Frequently asked questions.

  • As our name suggests, we specialise in adventures for photographers and adventure lovers. Our mission is to get you to the the amazing locations Iceland has to offer. When you book a tour with Siren, you’re not just paying for someone to arrange your accommodation and transfers, you’re investing in our experience and expertise to get you to those iconic locations at the very best times of day or night, in the most favourable weather conditions ahead of the crowds. The weather and conditions In Iceland change by the minute, and we are committed to constantly monitoring and adapting the tour for you to get the most out of your photography tour.

  • The simple answer is no. As long as you have a basic understanding of photography and how to operate your camera (change shutter speed, aperture and ISO), you’re capable of capturing those incredible shots. Darren & Jon are always on hand to give gentle guidance and tips where needed.

  • Honestly, no. We’ve had clients whom have joined the tour simply to be confident in handing over all the organisation of getting to locations to us, so they can focus their time on being present and absorbing the experience to the fullest.

  • Our commitment to you is getting you to the best locations and the best times, and while we do have an outline plan for the duration of the tour, we work on a very flexible timetable to allow for changes in weather and also for the Aurora forecast which can change at a moments notice. For these reasons, some days can be a lot busier than others, and as a group we discuss opportunities for particular locations as they arise.

  • We have learned over the years that inclement weather can often lead to some of the best landscape photography conditions. That being said, your safety is our number one priority on all of our tours/workshops and if the weather is simply too dangerous in a particular location then we will do our very best to get you into a different location. We are constantly checking weather forecasts for the areas we plan to visit but sometime even these can catch us out. Therefor we always recommend that you bring suitable clothing and protection for you camera equipment.

  • Most of our tours will require you to have a basic level of fitness due to the unevenness of the terrain and sometimes the remoteness of the locations we visit. There can often be slippery surfaces such as ice or snow, wet tree roots or muddy foot paths which can cause issues for those with limited mobility and/or balance. We generally recommend that you be able to walk unaided for at least few miles over uneven terrain or broken ground, however most key locations are within a minute or two of the car parking areas. If in doubt, drop us an email to hello@sirenadventures.com and we can have a chat.

  • Absolutely, yes! As with any holiday, you should always take out adequate insurance that covers you for all eventualities. This includes Travel Insurance that covers cancellations and delays, plus we recommend that you have adequate insurance cover for any photography equipment you bring with you. Some of the locations we visit can be very harsh in adverse weather and these conditions can damage camera gear (Volcanic ash in Iceland springs to mind).

  • On each tour page you will see a list of what is and isn’t included at the bottom of the page. But generally each tour will include the following:

    • Transfers to and from the nearest airport/seaport

    • Support from two professional photographers

    • Use of a filter set from our partners Kase, with an exclusive discount code

  • Again, a list of exclusion can be found at the bottom of each tour page. Some tours include more than others but below is a list of some of the things are not included (this list in not exhaustive) :

    • Cost of visas

    • Food and drinks (other than what is specified on the relevant trip)

  • No. We do not include flights and/or ferries with our tours. We are a small in-country operator for the destinations we visit rather than a specialist in flight/ferry ticketing. What we can do though is point you in the right direction to get some fantastic prices on flights or ferries. We always book our flights through www.skyscanner.net as we find that these guys will always find you the cheapest flights.

IMPORTANT - Please do not book any flights or transport until we have given you the green light. This is because we need a minimum number of guests to operate each tour. We aim to let you know at least three months prior to the tour start date if your chosen tour is operating.

  • Absolutely! When you book a tour via our website you will have the option of choosing to pay the initial deposit or the full amount. If you chose the deposit option you will be able spread the full cost out and as long as the balance is cleared 12 weeks before you travel you’ll be good to go.
